Note by Xavier : extracted from the firmware thread....
----------------------------------------------------------------
I agree, maybe a "compare" button to compare the changes you have made to the patch from the original saved patch??
Also just completed new board (thanks Xavier) Everything went together beautifully. Have had to cannibalise my other Preen for the Cerb40 as watterott are out of stock got a wait of 2 weeks to get my hands on it. Also as photos I swapped outer connections of the "backwards" encoders and all works well. Just need to add leds and give it a clean
Thanks once again

I'm glad it works well.
Thanks for the pictures.... :)
R5b is the PCB that will be available in May... (I'll may change 1 or 2 labels).
3 main changes are:
1 .encoders with switch accepted
All 4 switches are linked to one single connection. Pressing any of them enters performance mode.
2. volume pot works better.
3. it's now white :)
Aouchh !!! Your encoders :o
I think it would have taken me 2 minutes to add a 3rd choice in the encoder type..... ???

yep seems to have just been reversed, maybe add the string as these encoders are really cheap on ebay

Thanks for the link.
I forgot :
PCB changes :
4. compatible with preenfm405: CERB40 compatible board that won't require the internal PCB->mini USB cable. Will be available in full kit only at first.
5. Din5 connection moved to make them easier to plug.

Just need to add leds...
Hm, LEDs? Did I miss something? :)
White PCB is cool. Are you sticking with the LCD display?
-
hi there are now four LEDs on the front panel,
will keep with LCD for now but good design = easily changed when i feel a need for a change, maybe oled ?
-
Looking closer at the pictures, it's pretty obvious: L2, L5... I just don't recall seeing anything in the source though :)
I saw a Shruti with a white OLED but couldn't find one in 20x4. But now that I think about it, I might have an unused VFD lying around that might be compatible.
Might use too much power though...
-
ooooh VFD they look good

LEDs: There are 4 leds in the new PCB... but there are plugged on one single output. Same output as with previous PCB.
There's not information shown by those leds except blinking in sync to external midi clock.
The OLED i use and which will be in next Kits are the yellow newhaven:

I also tried the blue ones, but unfortunately they are very VERY noisy.
The yellow version is silent.
Please share if you have any source of different good displays :)

Good to know, that was my other favourite :)
According to the datasheet the VFD (Noritake GU140x32f-7806) should have fit mechanically, but mine has a smaller PCB so I'll need to hotwire something.
Not sure if the logic levels work (cerb40: 3.3v?, vfd wants 3.5v min) but I'll give it a try. And if it works I'll open a new thread ;)
