Title: Black Encoder Knobs?
Post by: pmj on November 16, 2016, 03:48:38 PM
Does anyone know which manufacturer makes these blank, black d-shaft encoder knobs for the PreenFM2 metal case:

Thought they were by Cliff or Sifam but seem to be having trouble finding them.  Thanks for any info.

I think that's the regular mouser knobs :

But the picture make them look nicer ;)

Thanks!

I have a PreenFM2 in the black / clear acrylic case, if I want to swap that over to the Van Daal white metal case is there anything that would need changing on the board layout apart from the longer wires on the DIN sockets and the additional spacers for the OLED mentioned here?

I don't know when you bought your preenfm2 and what version you have.

Latest plexi kits were already sold with 8mm spacer, so you don't need aditional ones.
The knobs are totally compatible.
You also need to have an OLED display with low profile headers.

It is this design:

The board has R5c on it and this is a shot of the OLED header from the back of the unit.

I didn't build it but it was assembled in the last month or so.

Hope that helps?

Just to finish off / update this thread, I've successfully swapped the acrylic case out for the Van Daal metal case.

The only slight issue was I needed slightly different length stand-offs to those provided to attach the board to the top of the case and to stop the Plexi CNC glass from moving around too much.  I wasn't the original builder of the board so could just be that the OLED needed some longer stand-offs when it was assembled (as mentioned earlier in the thread).  No big deal.

Didn't go with the Eagle knobs from Mouser in the end, went with some black 1900h Davies clones from Thonk
