Title: MIDI port jam?
Post by: quartz on October 25, 2017, 06:47:59 AM
Hey All!

I just picked up my preenfm2 a week ago and am digging it! Running into an issue with the physical midi port tho. It seems to randomly just give out and stop receiving notes. I've checked the traffic going to the preen and its just midi on/offs on channel 9 / 10 (inst 1 / 2). If I hook it up over usb there seems to be no problems.

Any idea what might be up? Maybe a hardware issue? I'm on OS 2.07 (overclock)

Thanks!

I'm using an iConnect MIDI 4+. I'm sending 16 notes on 2 channels but was not sending more than 32 per bar @ around 130 bpm. When it jams it no longer even shows that it is receiving traffic.

 Hi.

Are you using midi in and out together?
Might be ground issue.

Hi,

I have several questions.

It skips some notes and work again or does it stops completely receving any midi ?
What about the midi indicator on the display ? Does it stop showing the note on too ?

What do you have to do to make it work again ? switch off/on the preenfm2 ?
Do the same midi clip plays well on an other sound module ?

What DAW do you use ? Can you share the clip that shows the problem ?

Thanks,

Xavier

Hi Xavier! Sorry for the slow reply:

It stops completely receiving midi. It stops on the display too. Sometimes it seems to start up again suddenly after a while but I'm unsure if there is a pattern to this. Sometimes rebooting it solves it, sometimes not.

The same midi info plays on other modules, its standard note data w/o ccs being sent from my octatrack through my midi hub.

I won't be able to take a clip for a few nights. I wonder if its some short going on inside, I'll probably open up the unit and see if anything weird is happening inside.
