Probably has no patches. If there was patches they would be on the unit when you turned it on or in the USB folder. You'll have to add your own. Tons of free dx7 .syx files on the internet to load in.

Haven't used my preenfm2 in almost 3 months. Plugged her in again last night and been messing with it again last night and now. Updated to new firmware! So far so good!

Hold down a button and then plug your preenfm2 in with the usb and it'll bring up a list of commands and then hit a button again and it'll bring up and open folder drive.

You should have a folder named "pfm2" there. If not, then add one.

Inside that folder you add your .bnk files and .cmb files and make a folder for the dx7 aka .syx files. Make a folder for the scala files as well which are .scl

This folder is also the folder you drop your firmware files in as well.

Hope this helps.

Yep, I installed the din ports upside-down and the wires were crossed.... Oops. Anyway works great now thanks for replying quickly! One other question if I can ask, there's a sound when changing patches, it's the same in between every patch, is that normal? I'm sure it's fine just thought I'd ask. Thanks again!

Yes it's normal to hear a BEEP when the patch you played is still ringing out and you go change it to another.

So I've been rearranging my stuff and noticed if I use 1/4th guitar cables in the preenfm2, there's a bad hum for some reason, but if i use my line 6 wireless unit, it works fine with no hum. It's not my cable or system as I'm now using the cables fine for something else. What is causing this hum and how can something like this be fixed? I'm a bit pissed because the person I bought it from a few months ago may have known this too.

preenfm2 and preenfm3 / Re: RANDOMIZER
« on: December 14, 2019, 04:57:08 PM »

Yes a "go back" button would be nice.

But what you can do is : when you like a sound you save it to the current preset by pressing the MENU button. It displays "Done" and go back to the editor.
Then you click again 3 times this same MENU button to come back to the randomizer.
From there, after modifying your new preset, if you prefer the previous sound you can just press back.

Not as convenient as a simple "Go back" button i admit ;)

Yeah true, but you think any chance of adding a go back feature in a future firmware if it's doable and when you got time? :) Thank you so much for making this gadget, I love it.

Any chance that it's doable to get a "go back" function on the randomizer. Like say we're randomizing a sound, click a button and randomize another and we like it but then we hit the button and like crap I wanna go back the other sound I just had. The BOSS SY-300 guitar synth has this option on it's blender section and very helpful. Can go back like 100 if needed.

The five button triggers a new random. There's no difference between the 5.
You have a little more info in the doc here in the "1-Load" part.
http://ixox.fr/preenfm2/manual/menu-mode/

It's real randomization.
But keep in mind you can keep some part of the sound you have : "Keep" option for the area you don't want to modify.

Yeah I read that page before :) but also the 4 knob encoders below the screen if you press them they randomize the patch as well.

Omg I'm in love with the randomizer inside the PreenFM2... I just love any synths or pedals that have that option or a blender option.

My question is how does it work exactly for the PreenFM2? What I mean is we load up a sound, we then go to the rand option and then we click any of the 5 buttons to randomize it. Is it unlimited randomization or does it go to like 128 randomizations and then start back to the beginning or what? Does pressing a certain button out of the 5 do something different compared to the other buttons?

Here's me doing a example of it.

preenfm2 and preenfm3 / Re: OUT OF TUNE? PLEASE HELP
« on: November 23, 2019, 02:47:13 PM »

Thanks for taking the time to answer to all questions :)
That helps to eliminate some bug possibility.

Seems to be linked to DX7 import code + voice allocation + possibilty some midi info the Keystep sends that the preenfm2 does not like....

At least you have a Workaround when that occures.

No problem. I hope it can be fixed one day with new firmware though without having to use a work around. I'm not so sure it would be the keystep causing issues either because many people use it and haven't reported anything weird like this either. I'm guessing I'm the first person so far....

Ok so today I played a bunch of normal preen presets and few others that were in it and not the .syx files and not one single one of those went out of tune, so it seems the problem is with the .syx files or possibly with the way they load up in the unit or something. For now I'll just do the inst+menu button fix when i run across a patch that's out, but I really hope others will see this and try a bunch of .syx files and put the "voic" parameter on anything higher than 3 and go and try a bunch of them and see if they go out for them. Maybe people just don't realize it or use the dx7 section much... I don't know, but you wouldn't think it should go out of tune either way or as I previously stated above in the comment section... Maybe in next firmware put a code in as soon as you load in a .syx file it autotunes it or something.

OK you're right. There is something wrong...

Seems like it's not random at all and that you reproduce each time you switch from 3 to 6 voices for this patch, no ?
If you want me to give a try I really need this patch. Can you save it in your default preset and share DEFAULT.CMB. You can access it from the PC without opening the preenfm2. See (1) here : http://ixox.fr/preenfm2/manual/upgrade-firmware/

I have no idea what's going on, so i have some questions to try to understand.
1. Is if a filter (LP, HP ?) activated ?
2. Is tools>Set>Midi thru on or off ?
3. Does it only happen with preset from DX7 sysex ? or with regular preenfm2 preset ?
4. When out of tune. If you press 6 keys at the same time. Does it have the same result as INST+MENU ?
5. Is Tools>Scala>Enable ?
And a last one :
6. Is the problem still here if you set Tools>Set>Receives to NONE ?

There's no point in sending you a file because it's random. One minute it's fine, then next patch is out of tune, 30 mins can go by and it's fine and then another patch out of tune etc. It's not just one specific patch.

1. Is if a filter (LP, HP ?) activated ? - When I load a patch, filter is off.

2. Is tools>Set>Midi thru on or off ? - Yes it's off

3. Does it only happen with preset from DX7 sysex ? or with regular preenfm2 preset ? - Nothing so far has on regular preenfm2 presets but i haven't played them much but will do more testing on them today, so far it's just been dx7 .syx files randomly.

4. When out of tune. If you press 6 keys at the same time. Does it have the same result as INST+MENU ? - No, the only fix so far is hitting inst+menu or turning "voic" parameter down to 3 or less.

5. Is Tools>Scala>Enable ? - No it's not, I checked a few times.

And a last one :
6. Is the problem still here if you set Tools>Set>Receives to NONE ? - It's set to NONE

Sorry it's not the firmware causing issues as I thought maybe so I wanted to clarify that as I tried this new filter one, the normal 2.10 and also reverted back to 2.09 and still having some sort of tuning issue.

Love the new filters by the way! Hope we see more waveforms and filters in the future!
