PreenFM1 (the blue one) / Re: Preen freezes when selecting empty slot

Hi thanks Xavier,

yes sure its not a biggy. Will overwrite the empty patches with a "init"-patch which should do the trick.

Happy that its not a hardware issue.

keep up the good work

PreenFM1 (the blue one) / Preen freezes when selecting empty slot
« on: June 02, 2014, 11:28:43 AM »
Hi,
didn't use my PreenFM mk1 for a long time but started to play around with it lately.
So I loaded Firmware 2.0 and everything does work fine except from one thing.

Currently I do use a Korg ESX to sequence my PreenFM which does work alright,
but when I browse through the patches to preview sound the preen does freeze up
every time I come across an empty slot, while the external sequencer is running.
Same happens with my midi keyboard, the preen does crash as soon as I do trigger
a note while an empty slot is selected.

Any chance this could be a firmware related problem?

cheers
Marco

I love how this works here.
Thank you guys. I would appreciate a 6 voice option aswell.

since this problem is solved I dare to go OT.

What do you mean with VST?

LFO5/6 Gate as destination in the matrix was a very good idea.
Wow. That's a lot to work with. 8)

oh ja, of course you can modulate the matrix slot which contains the LFO5 as source.

The "all ferquency modulation" makes it much more usable for me. Sounds pretty organic.

splendid!

Thanks a lot.

and by the way....................
LFO5/6 are not selectable as destination in the
patch matrix.

I just wanted to modulate the sequencer depth by another LFO
but couldn't find the slot ;)

Sorry man for being so occupying but I can't do it by my self.

I hope the stuff I write will make it an even better instrument than
it is so far................................I love it big time  ;D

I've just upgraded to the beta 1.50.
It's cool so far. All of my presets are still around :D

After some time on the playground I have one suggestion........................
Would it be possible to modulate all operator frequencies
at ones, especially with the step sequencer?
It would be a usefull feature I guess.

Thanks Xavier im very, very happy

Wow..........................thank you.

Thanks for the update.

It's possible that the new update 1.0.2 fix the suck notes.
Let me know,

Don't hesitate if you have any more questions.

Xavier

actually the 1.02 firmware update fixed all problems I had so far.

I used the novation bass station as a controller.

double trigger -> gone
Evelope          -> works fine
Glide               -> works fine on each preset
chords wont stop sounding while playing single notes simultaniously.
the stucked notes are gone too.

so that was a real good one Xavier.

much, much more fun to play.

thank you

O.K.

The velocity/double trigger was an issue with the keyboard. Ive used a
Juno 106 instead and it stoped doing it. But sometimes a note gets
stuck somehow. ??? I also got a microkorg here, which I havent tested yet.
I need to stop playing around for today ;)

For the rest I guess it's better to figure out the FM-synthesis a bit more.

This is my first FM-synth and I'm not so experienced in Midi conntections,
mainly I just plug a Midi controller into my desktop synth and play it that way.
No automatition or other fancy stuff like that at the moment ;). And as I do not
know very much about FM-synthesis, it could be possible, that some of the thing
I suppose to be wrong are actually fine the way they are.

Keeping this in mind there is some stuff I've found, which I'm not shure about
whether it's a bug or it's me doing something wrong or not getting the point.

1.) Velocity: values between 0-8/9 causes a double trigger like effekt while im playing
single notes, which is gettin less obvious while increasing the velocitiy value in the engine menu.
I'm not shure if this is caused by my Midi keyboard which got a velocity
sensitive keyboard. (I'm using a novation bass station at the moment).

2.) Note Priority:While playing for example a two note chord and playing some additional notes, the
held down notes of the chord get taken away.

3.) Envelope:I've found the envelope sustain behavior a bit strange. It causes from value "1" on
a constant sound output which corresponds in volume to the sustain value I choose. The note keeps playing
forever even if I release the key. Tweaking the release value does not taking any effect at this stage

4.) Glide: With the preset "Power", for example, the Glide option does not work properly. From Value "1" on,
notes seems not to get triggered anymore.

Well these are the only things I've found, which seem a bit obscure to me.
But as I said.........It could be me ;)

PreenFM1 (the blue one) / PreenFM slows down in engine menu
« on: December 03, 2011, 09:21:34 AM »
Hello Xavier,

thank you for the quick delivery of the PreenFM-Kit. It was an fairly easy bulid and I managed
to assemble the synth in 80 min. time (well I've got some solder experience though).

Also the OS upload was no problem. Now that I was playing around with the PreenFM I
discovered that the engine gets really slow after switching around between different
algorythms, number of voices etc. In this state, changes of parameters will be recieved only after a
few seconds and even switching between the menu layers within the engine menue does
take a long time.

I have reflashed the OS, but it didn't make any improvement to the problem.

I hope this might be a software related issue which can besolved by a simple update.

kind regards
