I also vote for Hz mode to be integrated into the "Official" firmware

PreenFM2 / Riser FX patches

I made a couple of Riser FX type patches you can load using the PreenFM2 Editor. Note: use the mod wheel to make it "rise."
This is a great synth.

Would it be possible in a future version of the editor to allow selection of the user waveforms?

PreenFM2 / Re: Stuck on splash screen
« on: October 15, 2016, 03:44:19 PM »
So its fixed now.

I tried flashing 2.02 regular and "o". 2.05 both versions and 2.06 both versions. and it flashed fine but still stayed stuck on the splash screen.

I then removed the USB drive, backed it up and reformatted it. I put the files back on it put it back in the Preen FM2 and now it works fine.

So in the end it seems like the PreenFM2 must have had some issue reading the USB drive over time.

PreenFM2 / [Resolved] Stuck on splash screen
« on: October 14, 2016, 02:02:49 AM »
Hi,

My Preen FM2 was working ok on 2.02o and I went to update to 2.06o it now boots to the splash screen (not the black squares, but the one that says "PreenFM2 v2.06 o" and I can't get anything to happen after that.
Any ideas?

I am on Bootloader 1.11.

Thanks,
John

For a user waveform I use a formant type sound I like.

PreenFM2 / LFO rate quantization
« on: December 31, 2015, 01:46:02 PM »
I was wondering if it were possible to quantize the LFO rate based on which note you play?
For example for C1 you get a quarter note (MC/4) and for C2 you quantize the LFO rate at a 16th note(MC/16).

This is really exciting. I will try this out this week!   :D

This would be a super exciting new feature.  :D

I think this would be an awesome idea, being able to load new waveforms via USB. Or maybe via an editor?
I think a version of the Shruthi-1 allowed this or something like this for the wavetables.

Hi,
I had added a formant waveform and compiled my own copy of the os. It was super easy, and everyone on this forum was extremely helpful.

funkyfli awesome idea for using the envelopes as oscillators! I like the idea of doing a wave folder FX.

PreenFM2 / Re: Formant Filter
« on: November 06, 2014, 04:37:13 AM »
So what I am thinking of trying, when I get a free min or two, is taking the BPF you already implemented, making a formant filter comprised of 5 copies ran in parallel, setting their Q (bw=f/Q) and freq according to an array of values from those tables. Using the encoder to set he formant/vowel.

Would this be processor intensive?

In the Csound manual I found a table:
http://csound.github.io/docs/manual/MiscFormants.html

It lists frequencies, band widths and gain/loss for each band. Although it looks like 5 BPFs are used there.

Sound on Sound has an article on this in the analog realm. http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/mar01/articles/synthsec.asp

and provides a table with the center frequencies for different formants for a man:

VOWEL SOUND AS IN... F1 F2 F3
"ee" leap 270 2300 3000
"oo" loop 300 870 2250
"i" lip 400 2000 2550
"e" let 530 1850 2500
"u" lug 640 1200 2400
"a" lap 660 1700 2400

Then they go on to discuss amplitude and the width or Q of the band pass filters. They state that the bandwidth for the filters for a man's formants are around 100Hz wide and a woman's are slightly wider.

I have seen something like this with the Freq of one or more of these BPFs ever so slightly modulated by a LFO.
