preenfm2 and preenfm3 / Re: FM3 MIDI CC list?
« on: June 20, 2022, 11:38:39 AM »
In case anyone can't be bothered going through the source code list linked above by Toltekradiation, here is a pdf. I think I have filled in all the CC numbers correctly but please let me know here if you find an error.

Xavier feel free to remove this post if it is not helpful or accurate. Thanks.

Thank you very much, this helps me a lot!

Hi,

I know the midi doc is not very up to date.
Don't hesitate to ask any questions if you need more details.

Is there any new development in the MIDI list?

I think it would be very handy if there where more deep MIDI control over the FM.
So you could just use it like the OP6 with its sliders. Just add a LaunchControlXL to it and here you go. ;)

Of course it would be the best, if the Preen had a MIDI learn feature, so there would not be a hardcoded list and you could just do it learn what is needed.

There is also a ready design for the PreenFM3, it's made for acrylic,
but it is also adaptable for 3D printing.

http://ixox.fr/forum/index.php?topic=69734.0

But it's not designed for the front plate from the kit, I don't remember if
there was one when I designed it. You would have to adapt the design to fit it correctly.

Aaah, I didn't knew you have to overbrigde this connection under the LED, that will be the culprid.

I was a bit too busy to mention it, but on my PreenFM 3 the top LED is not working, never did.

The LEDs on the mainboard do blink fine.

It's not important for me, maybe the blinking would bother me.
But I want to know, if this LED on the topside has a dedicated connection to the mainboard via the stackable connectors.
I have synced the PreenFM 3 to external device and with the internal clock, the LED doesn't work.

Hope you like it :)

Thanks for the infos, I will put them to the readme file later.

I have triple checked the label allignments and can't find any faults.
I mailed with the laser cutting company, but they do not see the failure on their side.
On my casing, all labels are a bit shifted to the left, so they don't allign to the button cutouts as they should.
I even proved the SVG files that you can download from the factory's server. These are the real production files and you cannot see any failure.
So I think I had bad luck with a bad callibrated monday morning machine.

I have attached the power button. You can connect it to USB power or (like me) to the DC power.

Thanks, PDF is inside the archive file. I will also reimport the SVG file from the factory side, that should work. Wait till 20H today I will upload the new file.

And here it is with the PreenFM3 mounted.

I have to say, the letter printing is not only wrong aligned (factory fault as what I can see).
Also it is a bit weakly printed, I used grid engraving. Maybe I should have used vector engraving for this, I will check. But no problem, as you can paint it easily with acrylic paint. I also managed to fit the power button hole and you can put on the line out protectors if you turn every 2nd one to 180 degrees.

There it is:

I had no time to put the PreenFM3 into it, but I will make this later.
The only complain is, the factory made a failure with the label alignment, so all letters are shifted 1-2mm. I mailed them and will see what they say.

I have edited the file.

@lokki

Did you have success with the casing?

Yes I see the trouble with all that parameters 😂

To keep it easy, you could add global performer to the matrix that could be controlled on a global performance page, this wouldn't be to overcomplicated in UI I think.

But of course, first things first!

You could put there parameters from different instruments on one page without switching.

So for example you could change a lfo speed from a sequence on instrument 1 while at the same time changing filter parameter from instrument 2 and turn down the volume from a pad playing on instrument 3.

I don't know if this would fit with the concept of static performance knobs.
I think I had the Ambika performance page in mind, where you are not bounded to fixed knobs, but can simply assign every instruments parameter to every knob without assigning it in the matrix before.
But that's a whole different approach as on the PreenFM.

Now I know how it's supposed to work, thank you!

Would it be possible to add a global performance layer?
So that you could lay parameters of different voices to one side?

As I have seen, there are only 4 perfomance knobs available in the matrix, just like on the PreenFM2.

But we now have 6 knobs, so is there a reason why? ;)
