preenfm2 and preenfm3 / reinstalling firmware

hi again,

i think I might have messed up some the usb drive. I tried to upgrade firmware to 2.11 by copying the 2.11 zip file to the usb drive and unzipping it. It then creates a build folder. I put all the files into the drive and plug in the usb & start the preenfm up. now i get a blank screen. What's going on? Should I reinstall the firmware again? What are the steps I should do to reinstall the firmware?

finally got time to fix this. it's working now, well at least after 2 power up, I get a normal screen. Before reporting on sound and all I realized that when i removed the sides of case, the preenfm powers up properly. There might be something wrong with the usb drive as well. I've got a blue one. At things wriggling it helps. Otherwise, I check soldering jonts and psuh the graphic board deeper, so maybe that help too.

Seems like there's an update on the firmware. I might try to get a new usb to test and update the firmware.

Will try testing sound soon.

hi there,

after some time I managed to have some time with the preenfm again. I bought it as a diy kit, I built it successfully and it was working before but now I can't even start the thing up. Sometimes i get a blank screen and sometimes i get strange acsii lettering. I might have made a mistake once or twice with plugging in the wrong polarity.
So to explain how i get this;

First I plug in in power I get the acsii lettering then the screen doesn't change and stays the same. Then I unplug it and replug power in and then I get black screen, no more letterings. Then I remove power and leave it unplug for some time. After I try again and lettering appear again.
Otherwise the blue lights blink and the light on the usb is on.

I'm uploading some pics to show what happens.

Any ideas how I can fix this?

Seems like after many tries, i finally manage to start up fine. But when playing with it, the screen display strange letterings....I don't understand what actually went wrong there...  to the developer, any ideas?

Hi there,

I managed to update the firmware to 2.10. nice.
Then I made a mistakte by unpluging the usb cable out and now i can't even start up the preenfm.

The blue lights blink but nothing happens on screen ....it's all black.

Is there a reset some where to reset the system? or should I reload the firmware? I made a copy of firmware 2.08 before upgrading...

Any help?

Hi there,

Finally the preenFm arrived today and I managed to finish building it up in a couple of hours. And when i power up the preenFM with usb connected to my computer... I get a strange behaviour with the display. It's bright at the start but when I click buttons or turn the encoders, the brightness of the display changes from bright to dim in a step like manner. After a few times, it goes back to bright.

I thought it was because i left out the 68ohm resistor besides the 10k resistor, took it apart and solder it on with a 22ohm resistor as I think I have the OLED version, NHD-0420DZW-AY5. But it doesn't change any thing. The display still dims.

Any ideas?

..Still haven't tested audio or midi in....
