Hi,

I've succesfully built a PreenFM2 a few years ago and I love it.

I've assembled an FM3 kit from VanDaal. I flashed it using DeFuse. It boots to the main screen but I can't do anything from there. It does the exact same thing with the control board removed.

  • Mainboard LEDs: green and yellow on, blue blinks slowly.
  • Control board LEDs: blue flashes once at boot and then nothing.

I've checked continuity of the board to board headers and pins and it's all right.

Don't know where to search next, any help much appreciated.

preenfm2 and preenfm3 / Finished build, no boot [Solved]
« on: May 20, 2020, 01:36:20 PM »
Hi Everyone,

just finished my PreenFM2 build (kit bought from VanDaal) and it doesn't boot. I power it from USB. I populated jumpers 1 and 2. USB stick has all files on it.

I did things I'm not sure I should have done:
  • put the OLED 22 Ohm resistor (I still don't understand the difference between "OLED" and "OLED Mod"...)
  • put a 10K variable resistor in the reserved slot just because I thought it would be cool to be able to dim the screen

Symptoms:
  • Preen doesn't register in Win10x64 when connected
  • USB stick LED lights up continuous
  • LD33CV reg warms up
  • LM7805 reg stays cool
  • screen remains pitch black
  • PCB LEDs won't blink whatever knob I twiddle or switch I push

Any help appreciated!

preenfm2 and preenfm3 / Voices / Operators
« on: April 24, 2020, 11:18:37 PM »
Hi,

ordered my kit and looking forward to assembly.

Question: let's say I have a 2-Instrument "patch", and each of the two Instruments uses 5-Operator algorithms. Every time I hit a note, I sound 10 Operators (2 Instruments x 5 Operators). So if I hit four notes simultaneously, I sound 40 Operators (4 Voices x 2 Instruments x 5 Operators) out of the 48 available, which means I have a max. polyphony of 4.

Is this correct?
