preenfm2 and preenfm3 / FM3 MIDI CC list?
« on: May 08, 2022, 12:56:28 PM »
Just wondering if anyone has made an updated/current list of MIDI CC#'s for the FM3 they'd be willing to share here?
Thanks

preenfm2 and preenfm3 / FM 3 how to change OP shape over MIDI?
« on: April 07, 2021, 11:57:14 AM »
This is probably more a 'MIDI' noob question than a FM3 question as such.

How could I change the shape of an OP (let's say OP2) via MIDI with an Octatrack as MIDI controller? There is not a CC assigned to this.

The MSB number is 0 and the LSB number is 45, I want to switch between shape OFF (0) and Sin (1).

Is it possible directly with CC messages from the Octatrack?

If not, I could use a MIDI Event Processor by mapping a CC to a sysex command. How do I work out the sysex message to control the OP shape?

Thanks

preenfm2 and preenfm3 / Operators as source in matrix?

Hi Xavier

Would it be possible to make Operators a source option in the matrix?

preenfm2 and preenfm3 / [solved in v0.100] midi cc#31- feedback
« on: December 13, 2020, 06:29:04 AM »
Hi

Does 0.99b have the feedback controllable by midi CC#31?

Does this refer to the feedback value in the MI menu?

I can't get it to respond. Other CC's are responding as expected. I've checked in both MI 1 and 2 menus.

Could the feedback parameter be made a destination of the matrix?

Thanks

preenfm2 and preenfm3 / super slow LFO?
« on: December 03, 2020, 07:37:41 PM »
Hi Xavier

Would there be any way to have the option to make LFO rates really really slow- like one cycle takes 5, or 10, minutes, or  even longer?

I don't know what the technical limitations of this are so maybe it isn't possible? Or maybe there is already a way to do this I haven't found?

The option to select usr wavefiles for LFOs' would be fun too.

preenfm2 and preenfm3 / FM3 Screen 'crash' and mix saves (0.97b)
« on: November 27, 2020, 01:10:43 PM »
Encountering some issues tonight with FM3.
The set up is just 2 instruments loaded in slots 1 and 2.
Inst 1 has 4 voices, Inst 2 has 1 voice, Inst 3-6 turned to 0 voices.
Playing around with the Seq and with Arp on inst 1-2.
The MIDI is very simple, only sending notes from the Reface DX recorded into the sequencers (it doesn't send any cc)
So after a 4 bar sequence is recorded the Fm3 is basically playing itself.
Both Inst set to MIDI Ch1.

1- The screen will just go white/grey after a while. I can't find a consistent cause but it's happening every couple of minutes. The sound keeps playing (the seq and arps are running) until I disconnect the power.

EDIT- this one might be user error on my part: 2- when this happens, the Mix setting I was using won't load. So, l'm messing around, I save the Mix to Mix bank 1 mix00, keep messing around and the screen goes. Reboot, try to load from Mix Bank 1 mix00, and the unit becomes unresponsive. I guess the file gets corrupted at 1 above, and then the FM3 freezes when you try to load that file again.

That's all the details I can think to report but I can check anything you think is relevent.

preenfm2 and preenfm3 / Preen FM3 volume output levels
« on: November 12, 2020, 11:46:11 PM »
On firmware 0.92 - I can't update until I hear back from Ardi about how to get to the SD card (I got a pre-built unit from Van Daal. The case is nice but there is no access to the SD card!)

Does anyone else find the audio output level on the FM3 low? I have to pump up the amplifier to hear it well compared to other synth units.

I have checked all the settings both in the mixer section and the patch itself (just a pure sine wave) and it is definitely set to put out maximum volume, but is still relatively quiet.

preenfm2 and preenfm3 / Bootloader 1.05 : SD card access
« on: November 12, 2020, 12:14:40 AM »
Moved by Xavier from an other thread

I hope this is the right place to post. It may be a very stupid question.

The PreenFM3 wiki says the SD card needs to be removed to put firmware files on it.

Is there a way to boot FM3 in USB disk mode (like FM2) to transfer the file to the SD card over USB?

I bought a pre-built FM3 from Ardi and there is no physical access to remove the SD card.

preenfm2 and preenfm3 / IM velocity: stupid question
« on: September 25, 2020, 05:02:29 PM »
Here is my Stupid Question.

If IM1 is set to 16, and the IM1 velocity is also set to 16, and the note is played at full velocity, does that make the actual IM1 value go 'higher' than 16? In other words, 16 is not actually the maximum IM value? So even when set to 'maximum' of 16, the actual IM value will be 16 plus velocity (the velocity is still 'injected' to use the phrase in the manual)?

I can hear a big difference comparing IM16 v16 to IM16 v0 with the note played at full velocity.

I just ask because normally if a setting is set to it's maximum value, it can't be modulated to go 'higher'.

preenfm2 and preenfm3 / Audio Output from SMD version
« on: May 18, 2020, 05:40:18 AM »
Hi, new forum member here.

First, the Preen FM2 is fantastic, thank you Xavier and everyone else who keeps developing new features.

However I think I made a mistake, I jumped in and bought a pre-built SMD version without being aware of the differences. I have linked a recording of a single sine wave, 1 voice, with no modulation and all other operators off. There is a noticeable 'phaser' sound especially as it fades out, that I don't think should be there with pure sine wave (other synths sine waves don't have this sound).

https://soundcloud.com/user-335915384/preen-output

I also tried splitting that sound file into separate mono tracks and it is audible on both sides.

Is this normal for the PreenFM2? Is this maybe a problem inherent in the SMD build and specifically the use of a single audio output jack? I don't think it is aliasing as the digital processing should be the same?

The general functioning of the unit in terms of MIDI control and parameter settings all seems to be good.

Am I just being overly sensitive about the sound?

Many thanks
