I have to add than editing sounds with the computer editor helped me a lot, as a the editor GUI can give you a more direct overview of all the parameters and their interractions.

I've been using my PreenFM2 since a few years now, and honestly i never became an FM specialist :)
But when i started, i didn't knew anything about it and now it's obviously a bit more clear. But I will never be able to know what kind of operator algorythm i should use or what setting i should do on the modulation matrix to achieve a particular type of sound.

But what i still was able to use it since the beginning.
I started byt downloading lots of DX7 banks that are lying around in the net, browsing them and selecting my favourite presets.
In a second time I started tweaking them to get them closer to my sound tastes.
And now I can start a sound from scratch, but only by accepting that I'm not trying to reach something in particular. Just experimenting until something l like happen.

And somethimes it can be enough to make music.

Thanks so much Xavier! I pm you now.

Hi!

I just broke the main volume encoder of my PreenFM2. I was opening the enclosure to change the USB inside... but i forgot the screw on the knob, and i pulled it a bit too strongly :)

The pot is still on Mouser : https://www.mouser.fr/ProductDetail/ALPS/RK12L12C0A0E/?qs=%2Fha2pyFaduhZW%252b8TYGKbyr66VdZMvLSqe%252bNl8GPokCh4OaVo2pi3%2FA==
But 20€ of postage seems a bit too much...

Does anyone have one spare to sell to me? I'm not doing enough DIY kits to have enough spare parts.

Or maybe some of you have an idea where I could find one in France or with better postage postal fees. I'm sorry that i couldn't locate one myself, but I will have to wait to get a new one to be able to test the new firmware :)

Thanks for any help!

Thanks a lot for this new update for both firmware and LFO! I don't exactly. I soldered mine 5 years ago now, and even if i'm not the ultimate power user, i really enjoy seing it so regularly getting better. Kudos for your work!

Hi Xavier,

May I ask you a favor for the next update of the editor? You told me in an older post answer that you forgot to implement the second digit in the LFO speed (currently, LFO speed on the editor is 1.0, instead of 1.11 on the PreenFM2 screen).

But the absence of this second digit makes a huge difference while tuning the LFO speed on the editor. I'd be happy to see it implemented in 2.11.5 :)

Thanks!

Oh thanks! You are right, i'm programming sounds on the editor and I didn't checked on the unit screen. 100 seconds is great.

Is there a technical reason that the editor can't produce and send double decimal values for this particular setting?

preenfm2 and preenfm3 / Slower LFO

Hi!

I was wondering if there is a way to have slower LFO than 0,1herz cycle, and without syncing to an external clock?
0,10 herz is a 10 seconds time laps, and i find it a bit quick for slow evolving texture that Modulation Matrix could achieve.
Is there something i'm missing in the settings?

Not tired at all, the flashing is so quick and it's great that you are so reactive.
So the 2.08f OS solves it all on my side : no freeze even with a global midi channel set up.

Thanks Xavier!

Xavier! It's working now!
I was just browsing through the MIDI options available both on my Mac system options, and on the PreenFM2. And i just saw that it was possible to set a global MIDI channel on the PreenFM2 to "none", which i was never aware of. Just tried to save that configuration, and now pushing my presets works.

MIDI mysteries!

Thanks for this version, but maybe something is happening with my midi drivers :(
Because i got the results again, with both USB and MIDI connections.
I will try to see if i can tweak things with the Mac OS Midi configuration.

12
I mainly use the USB connection, but i tried with my Roland UM-One mkII midi interface, and got the same result.

13
Actually i did flash my unit with the 2.09 firmware before posting. So the pushing button still produce freeze. Maybe Jalex can tell us how it's working on his side.

14
Xavier, a little update. I realise that the freeze and error message hapen every time i click the "Puch" button, even without loading an old preset. I simply didn't try that before.

15
Yes, the "Squeechy_8" preset made the PreenFM2 freeze, like all the other versions of this preset i made.

I'm sorry the 2.09 fix isn't working. But it gives me a different error message when i load my patches :
LR : 0x0807C7D9
PC: 0x08070C7C6
r0: 0xFFFFFFFF

Where you able to reproduce this bug on your mac? If you can't it means it either an hardware problem or a midi driver problem, nope?
