The 5V USB is connected to the DC-in after the 5V regulator.
So if your USB gives you a real 5V, you should not have problem.

You may have a bad contact on the JMP2 jumper.. double check it.

Seems like your preenfm2 cannot communicate with your USB drive.
Try to reformat it under windows and put back the pfm2 files.

What usb stick do you have ?

Very nice.. Congrats for your project.

Next step is to add some analogue input usable as source in the matrix  ;)

preenfm2 and preenfm3 / Re: Pitchbend response?
« on: June 19, 2016, 10:02:13 AM »

Hi,

The bitchbend is a midi value not linked to any frequency and is interpreted by the synth.
So i don't really understand what the Linnstrument (midi controller) change when you specify the number of semitones for the pitchbend.

But what you say is intersting and true.
The preenFM2 pitchbend is different from the standard pitchbend effect. And maybe in a not-so-good way.
That's something i'd like to work on (when i have free time).

Best,

Xavier

That's happens when the OLED receives corrupted commands from the preenF405.
Please read the last message of this thread i just posted :

« on: June 19, 2016, 09:50:49 AM »

Hi,
In firmware mode the timing in the LCD communication are more conservative. Which explain it works better.
What you see is the LCD receiving some corupted commands.

That maybe due to bad LCD header connection or dirty header pins.
Try to check and redo the LCD header soldering and clean the pins.

preenfm2 and preenfm3 / Re: Communication PreenFM2 and VST DEXED
« on: May 30, 2016, 09:58:36 PM »

Hi Rolf,

The preenfm2 is totally different from the DX7.
I added a late feature which was to try to read the 32 presets DX7 sysex file (4104 bytes) and try to map the different values to the parameters of the preenfm2.
So if DEXED can write those syx files, you can then copy them on the preenfm2 usb drive and load them to hear the result.

could it be that i dont have the same issue for some reason?  i have the yellow OLED too

It's more likely that you don't hear it.
Most people don't hear a low level 15Khz sin (I don't hear it at all).

2.03 is a small update but can be usefull for people who control the preenfm2 with CC.

From my experience, with the shield only I could decrease the parasite by 10dB at best.
With the full modification i achieved a 35dB improvement.

You can check easily check with voxengo SPAN.
You should place your shield with SPAN active because a 3mm position move can easily lead to a difference of 6dB or more.
