Thanks for the feedbacks.

Yes the IM is common to all voices of a same timbre.
I agree it's not ideal when you modulate it by the velocity.

Thanks for the picture.
This is a very original one.  :)

Algorithm 27 is additive synthesis ;-) It's often used by DX7 patch to emulate B3 organ sounds.

Too bad.. thanks for trying.
Your old one had a '/PFM2/' directory, right ?

Thanks a lot got the pictures  :D

Incidentally, what is the function of the orange led we solder on the pcb?

It blinks synchronized to the external midi clock if you enable it in the setting : "Clock Led : Yes".
You also need a firmware >= 0.9i.

It's also on in bootlader > 1.02. Allows to know the bootloader works if the LCD does not.

I would really like the PreenFM to be able to reuse old not-used-anymore Usb Stick.

If you have time could you test my last (beta) firmware :
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/41654198/preenfm2/firmwares/pfm2_0.9m.zip

I just finished it and not tested enough to release it, but it contains a big rework and lots of fix regarding usb/midi/sysex.
It allows me to read my old 512Mb stick that other firmwares could not.

Please let me know,

Xavier

Hi Mike,

Your PreenFM2 should be recognized as a "PreenFM mk2" midi device on both mac an PC (and Linux and IOS).

First, Midi USB is disable by default and must be enable menu->Tools->Set->Usb Midi.

If it's still no recognized check with an aditional mini usb cable that you can plug between your computer and directly to the mini usb port of the CERB40.
If it works with this direct cable and not with the PCB->mini usb cable you built, then check the connection of the USB cable.

Making the USB stick visible from the computer is not easy at all as they are 2 different USB connection for the CERB40.
Don't forget that you can use sysex to upgrade firmware.
But I agree it would be better to see the USB stick from the computer.

Thanks for the pictures  :)
And also for the feedbacks.

The state of your parcel is very impressive. I'm really glad nothin is broken inside.
It used to be a rigid squared clean packet.

Sorry for the small problems you had specially the screw.
You don't need the plastic for the mini usb, it's really not necessary...

After or while reading the doc, post any questions or remarks you may have..

P1 : is the debug pins to plug a st-link v2.
P2 : eventual future expansion
P3 : eventual future 4 analog inputs.
So you should not need them,

Thanks,

Xavier

Hi Randy,

Sorry, preenfm.net is now the preenfm2 site, i've updated the link in the firmware thread.
It's : https://sites.google.com/site/preenfm/firmwares

I've uploaded a firmware 2.01 here :
http://xhosxe.free.fr/PreenFM/firmware/

I assumed your pedal sends CC 64. Let me know if it now works ?

preenfm2 and preenfm3 / Re: Firmware: PreenFM2 Bug report
« on: December 23, 2013, 05:37:59 PM »
hi think i found a bug. when i have all 4 instruments loaded and playing a midi file from pc, if i alter IM in one instrument it changes others instruments IM too? hope that makes sense. also when i chain a shruthi from midi out in preen and play the same midi file from pc the shruthi loses sync over time.

Hi Martin,

If you don't play midi file at the same time, the IM works correctly ?
Could be a midi loop between the preenFM and your sequencer with one PreenFM2 instrument listening on ALL midi channel or something like this.
Try to set "send" to OFF in the PreenFM setting. And let me know if it fixes the problem.
I would need to have more details about your PreenFM and sequencer midi in and out configuration.

Regarding the chaining and sync problem i'll give a try.

Thanks,

Xavier

Ouch!  Does the new version respond to sustain pedal input?
Randy

Thanks to your message, it's now on my PreenFM2 TODO list.
I'll try to add it to PreenFM1 firmware too if i can find some time.

Thanks,

Xavier

hi maybe you could have note as a destination in the matrix so source can be sequence.?

The Matrix is probably not the best way to do that as the sequencer values are "gated" and "filtered" when arriving in the destination to prevent audio clip in many case.
A kind of arpegiator as an aditional row in the engine where sequencers would be selectable as velocity and notes...

Don't hold you breath, not even sure i'll add this and it would take some time. But i agree it would be cool ;-)

hello gain, would it be possible to allow the sequencer to trigger notes on the preen like a drum machine.

This is a good idea... I don't know how to do that properly right now, but I really keep this in mind.
Thanks,

Xavier
