just as a follow up:

the voltage regulator (7805) was bogus, it only outputted 2.05 v and got very hot... replaced that and the preenfm is alive with wall wart! since this was a revC board i also did the oled modifications and added a shield to reduce the high frequency noise...

so now i have two preen fm's , nice!

merry christmas to everybody else as well :-)

I haven't got a clue what it was or what you did as someone built it for me - did they build it wrong or was it a duff part (the voltage reg)? Anyway, I'm glad you're happy, merry Xmas! :)

Just for your information: there are pin headers on the PCB to chose how you want your PreenFM2 to be powered.
It's documented in the building manual, maybe that's not the issue but you may check about those jumpers if you feel like it because they give you the possibility to cut the power supply from one source or the other if I remember correctly.

Thanks for the info - Lokki has purchased it and it's being shipped today - hopefully he will read your post :)

PreenFM2 for sale. White face metal front enclosure, one tiny dint on the back edge of the top of unit(1mm square), USB installed with patches from Bensons DX7 page http://homepages.abdn.ac.uk/d.j.benson/html/dx7.html including DX7 factory roms.

UNIT IS POWERING ONLY VIA USB FROM PC(Which also sends midi) OR VIA A USB PLUGGED IN CHARGER(like you can power Roland Boutiques - this method requires a midi lead set-up, not sure if IXOX would recommend this). I do not know what the 'adapter in' fault is - someone built this for me, may be an easy fix, but it works over USB so didn't bother me until now - now that I want to sell it.

Asking for £90 UK + Shipping if anyone interested please contact me or bump this thread...I will use XE to get the rate if you are EU.

Sale is for the unit only - no leads/power/usb etc

So, I've got two midi channels for the VST, still the VST is inactive, screenshots of both channels midi in/outs attached, please clarify if I've understood or I'm doing it wrong...cheers.

Aha, Im only using midi in. I thought I would only be sending messages from the DAW to the hardware only, I'll see if I can suss it..

preenfm2 and preenfm3 / VST Editor manual or know how with Cubase?
« on: July 01, 2017, 04:40:25 PM »
Hi, please could you explain how to use the VST editor with a DAW and configure it with Cubase 7, no manual for this. I know how to use the standalone, but the VST has no midi in/outs on it. I've got the VST installed and working but not configured.

OK, after I select patch using menu, I can set each patch up to 8 voices seemingly, but why do they default at 3 voices? Can I change this globally?

I'm only getting 3 note polyphony on all patches loaded onto USB Stick, this includes PREEN.BNK and any other bank patches I downloaded from the net, I have tried every single setting I can find?

Bump - gonna try again in a day or so, Cubase 7 or Savihost are not loading the editor - the standalon(non vst) version works correctly though...

I have 2 questions for you :

. What windows do you use ?

. Do you have the dll loading in any other DAW ? (Reaper and Tracktion are very light on download and can be tried for free).
I was thinking it's possible the dll does not work at all on your machine for some reason.

Thanks

W7 64bit, I used VSTHost 32bit today, loaded a 32bit plugin(Audio Damage's Phosphor) from my Steinberg VSTPlugins folder to check I was using VSTHost correct, that loaded, then tried the PreenFM2 32bit VST Editor, nothing happened, so my PC is not recognising the .dll, however the standalone is working properly...

Windows 7 - I will try Savihost next weekend(I only use 1 DAW), I am busy now for next 6 days, Cubase 7 as well 32bit install, never have problems with .dll's usually from any dev, hopefully we can get to bottom of it.

Let me get back to you when I have tested the .dll in Savihost...

BTW the cheapest place to buy an E-licenser dongle is from Xils-Lab(French Soft synth developer)...
