This is my first FM-synth and I'm not so experienced in Midi conntections,
mainly I just plug a Midi controller into my desktop synth and play it that way.
No automatition or other fancy stuff like that at the moment ;). And as I do not
know very much about FM-synthesis, it could be possible, that some of the thing
I suppose to be wrong are actually fine the way they are.

Keeping this in mind there is some stuff I've found, which I'm not shure about
whether it's a bug or it's me doing something wrong or not getting the point.

1.) Velocity: values between 0-8/9 causes a double trigger like effekt while im playing
single notes, which is gettin less obvious while increasing the velocitiy value in the engine menu.
I'm not shure if this is caused by my Midi keyboard which got a velocity
sensitive keyboard. (I'm using a novation bass station at the moment).

2.) Note Priority:While playing for example a two note chord and playing some additional notes, the
held down notes of the chord get taken away.

3.) Envelope:I've found the envelope sustain behavior a bit strange. It causes from value "1" on
a constant sound output which corresponds in volume to the sustain value I choose. The note keeps playing
forever even if I release the key. Tweaking the release value does not taking any effect at this stage

4.) Glide: With the preset "Power", for example, the Glide option does not work properly. From Value "1" on,
notes seems not to get triggered anymore.

Well these are the only things I've found, which seem a bit obscure to me.
But as I said.........It could be me ;)

cheers
Marco

Hi Marco,

1) Difficult to guess without knowing exactly what you are doing and what is the patch you use when you hear that.
Try setting KSyn=0 in for all LFO.
If the effect disappear  what you hear is the fact that the LFO are global for all notes.
This is how it works for the moment...

2) PreenFM won't play more notes than what says "Voic" in the engine 1st page.
Any new notes stop the older ones.

3) Not sure i get it.
What you hear when modifying the enveloppe is totally different if you modify a enveloppe from a carrier operator or a modulator operator.
Carrier will modify the volume of the sound... like it does in substractive synthesis.
Modulator will modify the spectral of the sound.
This is the same with oscillator.
Look at the PreenFM algorithm schema.... A carrier is any operator at the bottomo of each alg. The modulators are operator upper.

Experiment with simple FM synthesis.
Use  algo1.
Set IM2 and IM3 to 0.
Set IM1 to 4.0
And start modifying enveloppe 1 and 2 and oscillator 1 and 2.
When experimenting with other algo the algo paper you get with your kit is your friend ;-)

You added a 4 ;-)
This is what glide is supposed to do...
If a note is still pressed, any new note will make the sound glides to the new frequency witout triggering anything.
If you release the old note before pressing a new one, it will retrigger the note whatever the glide value is.

0 = no glide. A new note is a new note from the start.
1 = very fast glide
...
10 = very slow glide to new note.

Do you see something different from this behaviour ?

O.K.

The velocity/double trigger was an issue with the keyboard. Ive used a
Juno 106 instead and it stoped doing it. But sometimes a note gets
stuck somehow. ??? I also got a microkorg here, which I havent tested yet.
I need to stop playing around for today ;)

For the rest I guess it's better to figure out the FM-synthesis a bit more.

Thanks for the update.

It's possible that the new update 1.0.2 fix the suck notes.
Let me know,

Don't hesitate if you have any more questions.

actually the 1.02 firmware update fixed all problems I had so far.

I used the novation bass station as a controller.

double trigger -> gone
Evelope          -> works fine
Glide               -> works fine on each preset
chords wont stop sounding while playing single notes simultaniously.
the stucked notes are gone too.

so that was a real good one Xavier.

much, much more fun to play.

thank you
