MIDI not working? [resolved]

Hi,
I just built a PreenFM2 kit with metal case.  On a basic level it seems fine.  It boots, the display works, encoders and buttons work.  However, it doesn't seem to "hear" anything from my MIDI keyboard.  I know the audio is working because the PreenFM2 buttons will generate sounds.
Yes, I've connected the cable to the MIDI jacks :)
Any ideas?

Oh my, this is embarrassing!   :-[
I swapped the opamp and the optocoupler.  Somehow, I still got sound through the opto!  Anyway, both parts apparently survived and all is well now.  It sounds great!  All of my disappointment with the Volca FM can now be forgotten :)
