Title: 2 Mono Instruments Simultaneously?
Post by: dimifrag on January 23, 2014, 07:59:03 PM
Hi PreenFM Community!
Can i play 2 mono instruments simultaneously, one from the left channel and the other from the right channel?
The PreenFM2 has 4 instruments and i need to rec or play on different channels at the same time in ableton because i have different effects!
Or someone can make a mod for the preenfm2 (3 more stereo outputs :D) to play the 4 instruments together in individual stereo channels!

Can't you pan instruments left and right?

As for extra audio outs, I don't think the ARM chip can do that.

As for extra audio outs, I don't think the ARM chip can do that.

Techincally the ARM chip can control many DACs (mcp4922). It uses the SPI protocol and can activate individually the DAC to control.
That's what i do with the 4 DACS of the 2 mcp4922.

But then it would spend much time just doing that if it had to control 16 Dacs for the 4 x 18 bits stereo output.

That's good i read from you Xavier :D
Maybe you make this one day!
(and extra analog cutoff filter and resonance ;))
Because the cutoff and the resonance can give a life in this digital synth!

There's a LP filter with resonnance and cutoff in the last beta firmware... But they are 100% digital.
Many people consider FM should not be used with any LP/HP filter ;-)
But they are fun to use.
