preenfm2 and preenfm3 / Adapter/USB power
« on: May 01, 2014, 10:53:44 PM »
Maybe a stupid question...?
But...

Will using the USB connector and powering it from a wall wart adapter WITH the jumper installed damage the PreenFM2?

I think the old usb sticks are USB 1.0 and not 2.0 .. maybe that has something to do with it?

I think the last .. redirecting everything on channel 1.... I was using ableton live.

Could you please make the panning go hard left and right? Gives a lot of extra possibilities. Like having 2 mono instruments on different mixer channels for example.

Shouldn't the pot be a log pot then? Even better would be to use a stereo pot directly on the outputs.

oh last thing had to do with usb midi in out setting. I was maybe controlling the parameters of instrument 1 via a loop in my computer (?).

oh and another really strange thing is that i'm always editing the parameters of all 4 instruments at once.....

After some hours of fiddling i have some questions about a few things...

By the way i'm on (beta) firmware 0.9mo

1. Panning .. The panning doesn't seem to go hard left and hard right but only a little bit left and right. Is this by design?

2. The volume pot controls the volume digitally. But the pot is linear and so is the volume software volume control. Shouldn't there be a log curve in this.

3. When the volume is very soft you can clearly hear but reduction effects... And i love it!!! can we have a bit cruncher effect in there? Would be great if it could be set per operator.

preenfm2 and preenfm3 / New Preen Build from PCB
« on: December 30, 2013, 07:37:39 PM »
Finished my PreenFM2 yesterday ... first it didn't start but that was due to a bad usb drive.

I decided this is the last time i bought a display from buy display... The prices and the choice is really nice but they just don't look very good.

I made the case myself at the local fablab from a piece of plexi i still had. Don't know if i like the color though.
If somebody really likes it i can make another case like this.

thanks Xavier nice work. I love algorithm 27 :)

I'll have to dive in now...

I tried the new firmware... same thing it doesn't boot with the old usb stick but works with the new one. With the old one it get's stuck as soon as the whole screen lights up with the new animation.

I have this lasercut case made from plexi and wood. I build myself a new case so i don't need this anymore. I also have some black plexi parts so you can make a weird compi of wood clear and black plexi.
You can have it for free+shipping cost from the Netherlands... contact me dennisvantilburg (at) g m a i l DOT c o m

just to give an idea of how many knobs a full fm synth programmer needs...
i think the preenfm already does a wonderful job at giving good ui acces for programming fm.

I put the OS on it before i put in in the preen... Even before i build the preen first thing i did was check if i could get the OS on the clone before i ordered the other parts.
