preenfm2 and preenfm3 / My PreenFM2 demo
« on: February 14, 2021, 11:12:53 PM »
I made a (very) long demo of PreenFM2 for a friend, thought i could share the link here as well

https://soundcloud.com/deathchy/preenfm2-demo

Edit: Shorter version with some (imo) highlights: https://soundcloud.com/deathchy/preenfm2-short-demo

i have the euro version so it's 1-voice mono synth patches..

Very happy with the range i have to say.. can do anything from TB-303's , analog synth-like, traditional FM, modern sounding (very textured / rich, modulated) FM.

Edit: also don't expect a lot of musicality here, its just me playing with a few sequences, improvising slightly sometimes, switching patches. Some of the patches can absolutely sound a ton better with more fitting sequences.

I think it really shines with sounds like those around 3:12..

preenfm2 and preenfm3 / Turn patches into a bank on PC?
« on: January 21, 2021, 12:48:48 PM »
So i've made 200+ new patches recently using the fantastic editor, they're saved on my PC.. Isn't there some way i can make these into a bank(s), or do i have to upload each individual patch?

I have 500 patches saved in total now (300 are uploaded manually, one by one) but i want to rearrange all of it, which will be very tiresome if i have to upload each of the 500 patches from the editor and do the saving on the preenfm2.

Just a simple script where you put all patch files you want as a bank in a folder and execute a .bat file to merge it to a bank would be immensely helpful :)

preenfm2 and preenfm3 / More Matrix destinations?
« on: February 25, 2020, 04:46:01 AM »
Would it be possible to have these as destinations in the Matrix?

Algorithms - would be fun to have these as a destinations (i mean like "browsable", same as e.g All Mod Indexes, so it steps through all of them depending on the "voltage" of the LFO or - actual voltage, via CV).
When you switch algos manually the change seems _really_ instant, so since its so fast this can be musically interesting..

Same with Instrument 1-4, these would be great to have as destinations in the same way, so that we who uses the eurorack version can control this via CV, or for anyone else; using internal LFO etc. Or why not make it possible to browse through the presets in the current bank (so like program change but with the possibility to internally, or via CV, change instrument)? Then we could drop e.g a set of percussive patches (or whatever that sounds good as a set of instruments) in one bank and PreenFM2 can be used as e.g a drum machine where it switches between the percussive patches we've put into this bank.
The later would probably be preferable! But either would be great.

Anyways, would absolutely LOVE if this was possible, it would really take this already great synth to the next level imo!

preenfm2 and preenfm3 / Stuck tones with the editor
« on: February 13, 2020, 04:09:35 AM »
I can hardly touch anything in the stand-alone editor (v2.11.3) without tones getting stuck. Often I can get rid of them by fiddling a lot with various variables, but not always. Very tedious. Decay or Sustain does not seem to be the issue (e.g having infinite decay somewhere could obviously get you into this territory).

Is this just how the editor is for everyone? Or is this a problem with the MIDI connection on my end somehow (I've tried USB and MIDI, i've also tried different USB cables and inputs to my PC).

Other than this issue the editor is fantastic, very easy to use. The VST editor does not work for me in Cubase, all i get is "MIDI In cannot be open".. This on a completely empty project with just the editor enabled and no other MIDI in the background.

Video of the issue with stuck tones: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BRCXLsxbbzA&

Edit: I read there's a way to reset the PreenFM2 (inst+menu), this is not really a solution since the stuck tones gets back directly when you start the sound again. Saving, reloading another patch and then reloading the patch i was working on can work to get rid of the really "hardcore" stuck tones.. Not really a solution either, making patches would take forever.

I'm on the CV version of the firmware btw.. so euro version of PreenFM2.

preenfm2 and preenfm3 / question about preenfm2 (euro version)
« on: February 03, 2020, 02:59:35 AM »
Does it remember where you left off after a power cycle? i'm guessing it does since it's multitimbral.. i thought i would ask before i purchase it because i really can't stand synths where i have to write down which patch i was using last..

I'm gonna buy the eurorack version, if that matters.

Thanks.
