If you cut and paste the command line instruction from the WWW then the 0x part is mangled. It has somehow replaced the X with something similar looking.

Spot the difference:

0×8000000 - Wrong
0x8000000 - Right

Correct the X character.

Env1 & Env2 sources in the Matrix are the output of the Env1 & Env2 in the LFO section.
They are independant Env triggered on noteOn.
(not to confuse with the Operator Enveloppes).

I cannot try before tonight, let me know if there actually is a problem with Env2.

Thanks

It works fine, just me being unfamiliar with Preen (I'd not used the matrix much before now).

Can someone explain the Env1 and Env2 sources in the matrix?

I can get Env1 to work sweeping the filter, but not Env2?

I was wanting the filter sweep to be separately controlled than the ASDR.

Can't you pan instruments left and right?

As for extra audio outs, I don't think the ARM chip can do that.

Yeah, arp is good. I prefer FX of a more creative nature in sound design and that sounds like that's what you're doing. Reverbs and delays are easy to add after.

Sounds very good. Are you managing to fit these in due to optimisation or free CPU cycles?

Okay. This fx section thing, is it to do with the external controller pads on the PCB?

What filter is this, a DC filter or a resonant filter?

Just a note, but "classic" FM (ie. Yamaha) is phase modulation not frequency modulation ;)

Preen does FM not PM right?

My case arrived today and is perfect. Inkscape works, but export to EPS and switch off the settings as mentioned before.

Perhaps someone can create a little Java app that lets you draw a waveform and the output is a C data required?

27
It's not easy true. If you can get the source to compile locally then I'm sure it would be possible for someone to produce a patch to modify the firmware.

But you would have to lose a standard waveform to replace it with the new one, your firmware would then be incompatible with presets (not always such a bad thing ;) ).

To be honest, FM is less about the starting point (the waveform) and more about modifying the waveform with modulators and algorithms.

It seems Operator is concerned with filtering waveforms and applying some FM, which is close to the subtractive way of making sounds.

I don't think Operator is a classic FM synth, it looks more like a hybrid of analogue style synthesis and FM.

That's not to say that more waveforms aren't possible, but you aren't going be able to directly replicate the sounds of Operator with a Preen.

Proper FM has algorithms, early FM modes on analogue synths were just using one oscillator to modulate another. Looks like that is what Operator does?

I'm sure I had some weirdness with my Novation SL zero once upon a time. It's in a box now.

Could it be active sensing or something?
