Probably people are still with family. Atleast I am.
So I will run them in January :)

Great input! I am eager to hear what you did already :)

You can use usb SD card reader. I get them for 2€ locally. And you have all the grip that you need. You can also put a piece of tape on the SD card to pull it out from your computer and leave the tape on. As it will fold in the metal case. So no grip issues.

In my experience.

The best power for audio equipment comes from transformer based linear DC adaptor.

Switching adaptors also work and they work well. But if you have some issues with the unit the best refference to exclude power issues is a good transformer based linear power adaptor.

The good thing with transformer is the ground isolation. The best part of the linear regulator is low noise. You only need to convert 50Hz AC to flat DC and regulate it, the parts that are needed are simple and effective.

I dont usually use linear regulated poweradaptor. I use switching adaptors. But I always use it for refference if I have some strange issues. It helps to remove possible power issues from the eqasion.

USB power is always very problematic. And should be used as the very last resort.

You got your Preen from me assembled I believe. Let me swap it for you. I got a new patch of TFT screens that are very stable. Maybe it helps to swap it. I will take care of the back and forward shipping and it will go quick. A week to get it back.

No cold solder. And no flux issues. I am using special no-clean solid rosin flux that doesnt need cleaning. It cools down and cristalyses.
So there is no issues on the Flux conductivity. Its also very hard to clean.

I am not reporting issue with my TFT, its more a report on the solution that I think everyone should pay attention to.
This should remove one non-obvious issue that may happen.

Hello,

I have encountered some issues with the TFT screen in PreenFM3.

When you build it from DIY kit yourself, make sure you isolate the screws and nuts from the pcb where the traces are very close to the mounting holes.
If that PCB lacquer fails to isolate. You are feeding the TFT datalines with noise. And this causes issues.

Insert plastic isolation washer between the nut and pcb.

Pictures are taken from the first patch PCB-s. But the next patch still has them too close and the nut will touch one of the traces.

Great that you got it sorted!
I will post a tutorial how to open the case to the webshop.

Its very simple.
Remove: 2pcs phillips head screws on the front and 6pcs 6.35mm jack nuts on the back.

The new bootloader and firmware is great! Jus had the pleasure to reflash my stock and its all working great!

Yes I can read and save presets.

I don't know about the type of card, sorry- you would have to ask Ardi @ Van Daal.

I've emailed him to ask.

The SD card is SanDisk Ultra SDHC 16GB

Yes thats normal. DAC doesnt have enough power to drive headphones. Its ment only for 10k line levels. Your headphones are low resistance and are pulling down the level.

Hello,

No it can not be fitted. But I will make a retrofit pcb for r6 in few weeks.

Best
Ardi.
