PreenFM3 has alot better interface to understand aboud the FM.
You can see the waveforms on screen etc. So I would suggest you to try it if they are available.

Great!

Remove all the IC-s from the sockets.
Keep the preenf405 and USB stick in place and try to boot. See what happens.

Hello.

Preenf405 is assembled by me and tested and run and confimed to be working.
I hand soldered the Pinstrips. You can have a look at it, but I am sure they look good, as I am very strict on the soldering quality.
So I would think its something else. Look over the 20pin sockets where the preenf405 is sitting.
Look over the USB Drive connector, make sure there is no excess stress on it.

The USB stick with that patch is not cheap chineese crap that brakes. So I am sure that the stick is good.
The stick has been formated from 64GB to 1GB and FAT32 so that PreenFM can read it.
Dont change it.

Is your 5V coming from your eurorack bus or from the onboard regulator?

Remove the screen and make visual inspection on all solder points. Make sure there are no shorts.

Hello,

Van Daal is selling the old through-hole PreenFM-s
New SMD PreenFM-s are still not confirmed to fit the metal case, but we are working on it.

Hi.

Yes the Blus screen makes odd stuff if you put the 22ohm there. Shortcircuit the 22ohm resistor, then you are fine.

The USB stick. Did you plug it to your computer and saw it doesnt work?
I load the preen folder on the stick before I send out the kit. So they are checked before delivery one by one.

The metal plate is to shield the OLED screen.
See this forum post for pictures.

What size (GB) did you get?

You can select the Unipolar or Bipolar CV with jumpers behind the PreenFM PCB.
They are marked.
-5Vto+5 or 0to+10

Hello.

JMP2 doesnt remove the Ground issue. It only removes the USB +5V noise.
You might have a noisy ground.
Or you might have noisy PSU.

In my setup. If I connect USB to PC and Use External power. I get noise because my ground is not correct.
Mixer has lifted ground. So all the grounding goes through the PC USB cable. That creates a Ground loop.

That Random function to cycle through the Instruments is really really cool stuff for noise generating.
So much fun!

42
You should describe more on how and where you are connecting this.
Also what Psu are you using to power it?
There is no reason why preen should produce humm noises. Other than psu or grounding issues.

Great ideas!

Xavier can you implement this in the Settings menu, to turn in On/Off. This would make it very interesting!

I have built this. Years ago.

Change the pot. See if it helps.

Make sure you are feeding 9v DC into PreenFM with correct polarity. Center pos and ring neg.
