preenfm2 and preenfm3 / Re: operator feedback
« on: December 01, 2019, 05:37:47 PM »
I don't think its a CPU/polyphony issue.

The PreenFM2 does FM. Operator feedback in FM changes the pitch of the sound. I recommend using other waveforms to get the sound you want. For example, when I want to simulate an operator feedback sound I use the saw waveform. It works really well for the types of sounds I'm doing. There are also some user waveforms on the forum with varying amounts of feedback.

The Yamaha DX series actually uses Phase Modulation.

However, along these lines, what might be cool would be having for example, a new algorithm, something like Algorithm 1, but have a modulation index (IM4) to allow OP1 modulate OP2.

preenfm2 and preenfm3 / start phase of an operator
« on: December 01, 2019, 05:05:35 PM »

Is there a way to modulate the starting phase of an operator?

I thought about maybe using an envelope to modulate the pitch of the operator slightly to cause a phase shift.

Has anyone put a small headphone amp and jack in their PreenFM2?

@Toltekradiation

They sound great. I really like La+d.

Lad+ seems to be a little "zipper" when I change the frequency knob.

The three formant filters sound cool.

preenfm2 and preenfm3 / FM filter sweep

I made an FM "filter sweep" pad, that has a resonant filter sweep sound, but does not use a filter. I thought I would share. See attached.

It is saved in the editor format. Use the editor to load it.

@Toltekradiation is it possible to request, as a new filter, the formant filter you did combined with a distortion as a future filter? I love playing with the formant filter.

preenfm2 and preenfm3 / Re: OUT OF TUNE? PLEASE HELP
« on: November 21, 2019, 09:23:43 PM »
I watched the first video and thought, maybe the patch has some overtones (or too hot of a level into the tuner) and a harmonic at D is showing up on the tuner. But when I watched the second video, I clearly see your instrument is going out of tune.

I am running p2_fltrs_0111o.bin and am not having the out of tune issue. I am powered via USB from my macBook Pro. I am sending notes to the PreenFM2 via USB MIDI from Logic on the Mac.

I tried about 15 different patches from the DX7 ROM 1 Bank and just ran a C major scale over and over, and I turned the Voic parameter up to 8. Zero problems. Everything in tune.

Brockstar, can you post the patch, or do you know the name of the patch?

I don't think this is the USB power.

Can you post a sample patch you this happens with? What algorithms are the patches using that demonstrate this issue?

Are all the notes being played on the same channel. For example, does it happen if you play 3 or more notes on channel 1, and if you play two notes on channel 1 and one note on channel 2.

Does this happen if you use a computer sequencer like Logic?

Nice! A formant filter!!!! Can't wait to test.

I've tried a number of solutions, but I'm still getting the "Command Rez failed with a nonzero exit code" error. Any Ideas?
BTW on my laptop 10.12.6 no issues compiling the same code in Xcode. weird.

It compiled well for the stand alone. No issues with the stand alone. I ran it on OSX 10.12.6 and OS X 10.15.

However, I got an error on the plugin. "Command Rez failed with a nonzero exit code."
I'm trying to work that out.

I have 2 questions, if I wanted to compile on/for Catalina:

1) Do I need to instal Juice?
2) I have not compiled anything without an Xcode project file yet, any general warnings?

If I can work it out, I'll give it a try.

When powered off the USB it does not use the regulator.

You probably have to replace the 7805 regulator.

Sounds like you may want to start with temporarily removing your socketed parts, measuring the voltage at those same spots and installing the parts back in one at a time until you see which ones are blown.

Can you power it up via USB?
