really great plugin!

Would there be any chance of you putting it up on github? I'm really curious about writing vst plugins. I would love to make a similar plugin for my cz-101 as it's awful to program and doesn't keep patches in memory when you unplug it, but sounds great.

Thanks for making such a handy tool!

One thing that would be cool, although maybe it's not possible, would be for the IM settings changes to happen to a sound that has already been triggered. Right now, when you change the Index, it doesn't take effect until a new note is triggered. At least on my unit haha.

Great Stuff! I look forward to some new firmware and trying to remember how to flash the maple haha.

haha how's this for DIY?
It even has wooden buttons! :D

I've designed the real case, and this was a test fit to make sure the hole all lined up. It's ready to go to the fab shop, but I haven't had any time to dig into the details yet...

Anyways I'm glad i waited, as I might now switch to the OLED display. :)

I have that clipping issue too. It seems to me like sometimes the output is too high for the audio circuits and it distorts. I'll have to record it next time I hear it. It's worse on patches with 1 voice, as that tends for some reason to also make the patch louder. :D

Check it out. I'm making an ambient track everyday and most days using the preen in some capacity. :) Quite versatile little dood. It's also probably the only Preen in existence that lives in a cardboard enclosure hahaha.

Here's the blog. >> dailyambient.tumblr.com

There is also a podcast in the iTunes store if you're into that.

:) It's all in Illustrator right now. There is a company here locally that does the fabrication. A student of mine has a contact there. I still need to see what kind of tolerances there are for the fine lines and stuff, but I believe it's doable. I'll post updates when I have a physical cut of it. :)

Ideally I'd like to do it on anodized or painted metal with the design etched out of the color layer, but silkscreen could also look nice. :) Glad you like it!

I've been poking this for the past few evenings and I'm finally getting somewhere with it. :)

I found a good supplier / fabricator here that does laser and water etching and cutting. They even offer a bending service that I might do also. I've been working out the folding and design of the interface. :) I couldn't resist. haha.

I've gone an extremely minimal route with it all lol. Here's the front, top and back panel sheet.

and the bottom. I figured why not use it to show the algorithms so I worked out a graphic style to show them. It's not final as the screw holes are not there yet. I want to do a test run here in the next couple of weeks to see how everything fits. There will also be a small legend to explain the symbols. The numer of line segments in the shapes equals the number of the osc.

It's a fun challenge to break the normal design drudge.

I bet you could also setup the novation to not send CC messages??

ah ok thanks. :) I think that was the most polite RTFM I've ever gotten :D

oh ok I figured there was stuff I hadn't figured out yet :)

So what do values higher than 0 do for KSyn?

haha so I'm the first to build a non-kit? Surprisingly the only things that were hard to find were the buttons and the audio jack. I had no issue find the eeprom or any of the other ICs here at the local shop. :) It's great to not have to order parts. I also could only find a green LCD though, but that's not a huge deal.

Thanks for the link!

Here are a couple more :)

Really really simple, but pretty I think.

They become really alive when you modulate the IM points in a sequencer (like numerology). CCs 17 and 18.

I've just started with it so I might be missing it someplace, but could the lfos and sequencers be made to not retrigger with each note? The sequencers might be tougher as the start point would need to be syncable, but the lfos should be easy enough. :)

cheers!

Howdy!

I've finally gotten my Preen working, after some issues related to my shoddy craftsmanship :D

I was wondering where the original button parts came from. I have done quite a bit of digging but I really can't find the same rectangular button covers that the kit has. The only ones I can find are the ugly round ones. I think they won't even work as the buttons are right next to each other, and the buttons would have no space between for the function labels. Is there some place that specializes in nice looking knobs and button covers?

Also strangely enough i had issues finding the correct audio jack :/ Is it a mono jack, or a stereo one?

Thanks! Preen + five12's Numerology is really fun stuff :D
