It's alive, but weird behavior with an Yamaha KX25 ...
« on: March 28, 2016, 07:44:58 PM »
Last week I got the board and MCU and now my PreenFM2 is alive. Lot to explore and discover, love it!

I connected it via midi to a Yamaha KX25 keyboard midi controller. Everything works, except for 1 thing. The KX25 has a build in arpeggiator and with some paterns the PreenFM gets stuck when directly connected to the PreenFM2. When I stop the arp, I can play single notes without any problem. When I connect the KX25 and the PreenFM to the computer and  route the midi to the Preen with MidiOX everything works fine.

Does anyone has a clue what is happening?

Cheers,
Kees

Congrats for the preenfm  :)

If you save a midi file from the KX25 and plays it to the preenfm, does it freeze the preenfm ?
If yes can you send me the midi file ?

When I record a midifile (Reaper) I can play it to the PreenFM.
When I play to the computer and route the midi data to the PreenFM with MidiOX, it also plays.

Directly connected, PreenFM only plays the first note.

Midifile and midiox-log enclosed.

There must be something weird with the KX25. Maybe regarding the timing.

Recording and playing it back, or routing through MidiOX probably fixes that which make it work.

Sorry, I cannot do anything without trying a KX25.

The only thing i can say is to use the Preenfm2 arpegiator instead  ;)

Tnx Xavier, for looking into this.

I also think it has something to do with the timing, definitely KX25 related. I shall use the PreenFM-arp  ;)
