encoder problem

Hi.

This is my first post. I built my preenFM last sunday, everything worked very well until today. The first encoder (from left to right) stopped working, I turn it clockwise and in the opposite direction and it doesn't do anything in non numerical parameters in Eng, Osc, Mtx, LFO, and Menu. When I turn the encoder in Env, the attack drops to zero, no matter what direction I turn it.

It has 1.51 Firmware. I think that the problem began after I tried to send midi from max/msp (CC #58 to change osc1 freq).

Any suggestions?

Hi,

That can only be a hardware problem.
I had this problem after some time of usage on one of my PreenFM.
It cannot be linked to the CC you sent with max/msp.

Check the 3 pins of the faulty encoder.
There must  be a bad solder junction.
Even if you don't see anything obvious, try to resolder them just by applying you iron.
You can also check the junction on the network resistor and on the IC 74HC65 that come from this encoder.

Hi Xavier.

Last night I solved the problem. It wasn't necesary to resolder the encoder, I pressed the reset button and after reboot the encoder worked normaly.

After checking the encoder I upgraded the firmware to the newest.

Good news but this is very strange.
If it fails again give a look at the solder junction
