IM velocity: stupid question
« on: September 25, 2020, 05:02:29 PM »
Here is my Stupid Question.

If IM1 is set to 16, and the IM1 velocity is also set to 16, and the note is played at full velocity, does that make the actual IM1 value go 'higher' than 16? In other words, 16 is not actually the maximum IM value? So even when set to 'maximum' of 16, the actual IM value will be 16 plus velocity (the velocity is still 'injected' to use the phrase in the manual)?

I can hear a big difference comparing IM16 v16 to IM16 v0 with the note played at full velocity.

I just ask because normally if a setting is set to it's maximum value, it can't be modulated to go 'higher'.

Yes IM can go higher than 16.
Consider 16 as a display/editing limit, not an engine limit.
So if the sum of (IM+velocity IM + modulation destination) > 16, IM will be > 16.
