PreenFM3 skippy encoders ?
« on: January 04, 2021, 08:20:09 PM »
So here's my issue :

On my PreenFM3 encoder f will sometime skip a turn. let's say I start from a value = 0

I turn the encoder ten times so the value should = 10 but for some reason sometime the value = 9 so the encoder skip a turn.

Strange thing is that it happens only when turning it clockwise , never when turning it anti clockwise

Am I the only one experiencing this kind of thing ?

Thanks for posting here, i would be interested to know also if other users have a similar issue.
As we already discussed that in PM, i know you're using v0.102, so that's fine.

But I have 2 questions :

. Do you confirm it happens only with Encoder "f" and not other encoders ?

. Do you notice that it happens at a particular position of the encoder ? I mean does it miss a value once per 360° rotation and always at the same angle or something like that ? or is it totally random ?

another question :
. Does it happen independently of what it controls on the display ?
For example does it happen in Mixer>Volume ?

-Yes it happens only with encoder f

-I got the impression that it's totally random  but when I was counting from 1 to 10 and that it skipped let's say turn 8 when going back to 0 then clockwise again it would skip turn 7, so one turn earlier (hope this make sense)

-First encounter of the issue was in mixer > volume but I also encountered it when setting feedback.

If it only happens on one encoder that would indicate a "bad" encoder, no?

Xavier, you could compile him a firmware with switched encoders so he can see if the faulty encoder moves...

Yeah that would be my first guess...

So, nobody else is experiencing this kind of issue ? I guess we can say this is hardware related ?

Can't you replace the encoder and give a try ? as it's likely an encoder problem.

I can make a firmware with encoder 5 and 6 swaped but i'm not sure what it will prove.
