[Solved] pfm2 : Only Intrument1 is working
« on: November 15, 2020, 07:01:25 PM »
First off, I apologize if this question has been answered already, I couldn't find an answer in the manual or on the forum.

It's all in the title: only instrument 1 produces sound. I see on the screen that Instruments 2-4 receive MIDI data (their numbers show up when I input a note) but nothing comes out of them. Instrument 1 works fine. Even if I try to listen to presets in the menu while I have I 2-4 selected, there is no sound that comes out.

Is this a known issue? Is there a parameter that I am missing?

I should say that I got my PreenFM2 second-hand years ago and never really got down to getting to know it until now (thank you lockdown...). So I don't know if this was an issue before and I don't even remember who I bought it from, so I couldn't ask them.

Hi,

No this is not an known issue.
And if instrument 1 is working the, there's no reason the 3 others don't.

First thing to check is the number of voices dedicated to the instruments.
It's the first page of the engine pages.
Check that instrument 2,3,4, have more then 0 voice.
If you cannot increase, You have to decrease the number of voices for instrument 1.

If you havent used your preenfm2 for a long time, you should first try to upgrade the firmware.

Okaaaaaay

That was it. The number of voices. I had enabled the maximum number of voices on Instrument 1 and so the others had zero left. It's pretty logical but I hadn't thought of it and hadn't seen it either. Sorry for the silly question then...

Thank you so very much. For this and for all that you do! It's a neat little synth you made and the whole project is great.

I did upgrade the firmware.
