preenfm2 and preenfm3 / Re: PreenFM2 on Zynthian ?????????

I don’t want to make bad karma here on the forum, but I don’t get the point here. If I understand it correctly, Zynthian is a diy version of V-machine or Muse Receptor aka a “VSTI playback machine”.

You can download 100 of different free FM VSTI plugins, which goes way beyond the features/limitations of PreenFM2.

Hi,
Those ones should work :
https://www.reichelt.de/Klinkeneinbaubuchsen/NEUTRIK-NR-JNUTB/3/index.html?ACTION=3&LA=517&ARTICLE=116986&GROUPID=7448

Thanks for the prompt reply.

So now we have the dimensions. I`m wondering if there is a Chinese provider of these “hexagon nut” on Ebay:
High: 4,75 mm
Ø 17,45 mm

Reichelt`s price is fine but their Porto system is not really thought through if you only want a small plastic “hexagon nut” and live in same country. -> 7€ < I can buy 200 pcs incl porto and throw away 199 pcs and still paid less than on Reichelt.

Looking at a Nuts dimension chart:
http://www.fairburyfastener.com/xdims_metric_nuts.htm

What size would work? (I cannot find/convert it into a normal nut size with ISO 4032)

i bought my PreenFM2 2nd hand and the audio jack nuts are missing.

What size do I need and where can I buy them?

Hmm I cannot make it work between my computer both the standalone and vst (with Renoise) after i updated my device to the newest firmware..

I made the connection over USB

The idea was to add Free Env 2 as an oscillator source for an easy way to get a triangle wave.  The oscillator starts and ends at -1.  The total length of the wave is 2.56 and the sample array is 1024.  If the 3 stages are less than 2.56 then a flat top is added.  If the stages are over 2.56 then stages get chopped.

While I was at it, I also added Free Env 1.  The envelope is positive and rotated 180 degrees for the negative half.  I added the 2 step sequences as oscillators.  At 128 samples they are pretty lofi.  I'm not sure how useful they are but they are there.  :)

Lastly, I added a wave folder to the FX section.  Probably, only useful in mono sounds.

As the envelope / step seq stages are only set by the encoders except the 'silence', I thought this would be a cool way to get a changeable triangle type oscillator.  Though, I might try to add Free Env 2 attack and decay destinations to see if I really can break something. :)

Martin.

Thats interesting, thanks for sharing the info! :)

Nice, but i think your idea already exists  ;)

I don't know how to do a fade filter between different algorithms except creating the 2 sounds and make a volume fade between both.

For a same algorithm, some parameters can be easily interpolated between 2 presets (operator envelope, operator frequencies, pan, mix, IMs, LFO (ecept waveform), env1, env2, step seq).
But some cannot are more complicated such as matric souce and destination or the waveforms (lfo and operator).

Implementing that to in preenfm2 would require a big amount of work ;)

Xavier

Hello Xavier,
Thanks for the feedback, the idea was in my head so i just had to shoot it out ;)

I have here made a example made on the ”Vector synthesis” concept.

I know that you cannot “break-up” the OP algorithms as they are “fixed”

Basic example:
We set focus on one patch and put this patch on each of our 4 (Multitimbral instrument) and set a different algo for each of the 4 instruments and imagine that we can fade between the 4 instruments with a joypad.
•   If you leave the joypad in the mid between A, B, C and D, then we would hear 25 % of each instrument.
•   If you push the joypad to the top, then you would hear 100 % of A and the rest, would be left out.
•   If you push the joypad between C and A. This would give you 50 % A and 50 % C.
•   Where it get tricky is when you don’t push the joypad straight vertical or horizontal on the axis. But pull it example straight to a side and move it a bit up or down. So you example get 73 % of one side and  27 % of another.
•   Another tricky calculation would be, when you leave the joy pad a small step a side from the mid :D

My example is bad and basic as it would steal all the multitimbral :D

Kind regards

preenfm2 and preenfm3 / Z-plane/Morph filter
« on: November 01, 2014, 03:00:33 AM »
Yesterday I was playing around with my E-Mu Ultra E6400, which is a sampler that is known for having this Z-plane filter.

Z-plane/Morph filter seems very complex and complicated and the short explanation would be:
Quote
“The possibility to fade between different filter parameter settings”

While my head now has a innovative idea, I just want to shoot it off before it disapirs ;)

Question:
Would it be possible to make a “fade filter”, which could fade between example two different algorithms?
•   Or maybe something similar?

I was playing around with my PreenFM 2 today and this Bit crusher is nice. It really gives a nice edge to the sound :)

Question:
I’m curious, what will we see in the future updates? :)

FM can make some very exciting drums, I found this example of a Yamaha FB01
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qd7OU66XE6c

I always had a huge love for older drumsounds like Roland tr-606 and Roland Cr-78 :D

Note: Yamaha FB01 is 4op
