Is there a way to change the default sound that comes up at boot time? Haven't been able to figure out if that's possible...

No, it's not possible. But that would be nice...

If it's annoying i can add an option to disable it.
Allowing to change it would require a bit of rework.

I've hot another question, is it possible to have the algo schematic permanent in the display on the algo page?

At any moment you can press ENG + MENU (hold ENG then press Menu) to have the algo schematic show up.
