Re: Save/Load issue (SOLVED)
« on: September 30, 2016, 01:05:43 AM »
Hi friends,

I was crying when I first heard the amazing sounds of this beauty, now tho I found out I can't access any memory.

I did extract the folder into the usb drive, anyway when I try to save a a bank it would show all the empty banks and not react once I press Menu to save.
If I try to save as Default the system crashes. also I thought there would be DX7 patches in it already but on the load page it seems nothing is in the USB stick at all.

Quick question, if I did something wrong on the USB side, would the synth still work correctly?

Thank you in advance!

Hi Alex,

What USB stick do you use ?

Try to format it again, then copy back the /pfm2/* directory.
If that still does not work, try with another USB key.

Best,

Xavier

Preen will work don't worry.
Just get a working USB drive. It can be a pain. When I made the last PreenFM DIY kit patch I had to scrap 30 USB drives because they suddenly didn't work. The funny thing is that the 30pcs look exactly the same as the old ones, just they have a different patch number on them and Preen don't like that.

So just try different ones. Old USB drives seem to work. I have not seen one that does not and is older than 2 years.

From what I could find out was that its related to the USB drive library. Its not universal and its not ment for everything. But there is no information what one should keep in mind, so its a trial and error.

Thanks for coming back to me so quickly.
I used the green one that came with the kit, didn't format it and copied the content of the zip file on the root of the usb stick so it would be USBDRIVE/all the folders and files etc..

Is that how I was meant to do it?
Cheers

The only folder you should see on your USB stick is "/pfm2/".
Everything is inside.
http://ixox.fr/preenfm2/manual/usb-drive/

If you skiped the "/pfm2/" folder, that can explain your problem.
