Hi All,
Just got my Preen FM2.
I love it already., so many possibilities,
I have setup a slightly unusual midi confirguration, and predictably I'm getting some strange behaviour.. also I have a couple of newb questions:
I have a Launch Control connected vis it's USB to a Bome Box, which then sends midi via 5pin din to the Preen FM2.
The bome box also receives midi (midi notes and clock) which it relays (using simple midi in > midi out through route on bome box)
I have different user templates on the Launch Control.
several are just CC values which the bome box passes straight to the preen fm2
Some, though are CC messages which get 'swallowed' by the bome box, converted to NRPN and sent to the Preen Fm (for those parameters not covered by CC)
One in particular (I have assigen to scene 4) is note pitches 1 through 16 for Seq1 .
All works very nicely. 'Opens up' the interface a bit.
However,.. the PreenFM2 is powered by USB connected directly to my mac.
The mac runs the Preen Editor, which if used in isolation also works very nicely. Very useful for envelopes (I love the GUI for that) and selecting modulation sources.
The trouble is that there seems to be a conflict between the Launch Control editor paramters and the Preen Editor.. specifically those NRPN values..
I think this is likely because i have the Preen FM2 to MIDI SEND : CC & NRPN< and MIDI RECEIVE : NRPN as recommended.
I mean I recognise I am trying too hard.. I only really need either the editor, or the launch control..
But I wondered if it is possible to understand a bit more why MID OUT should be set to NRPN and not NRPN & CC ?
Newb question : I only really want to use the Preen as a single voice. I don't have much use for midi timbrality (I have other synths)
Currently I achieve this by setting all instruments to the same midi channel. Is that the right approach ? or should I set common / global channels to something instead of 'off' instead / also ?
