preen fm2 adjusting operator frequency question
« on: November 30, 2021, 07:26:46 PM »
Hi guys, being much amused with the sounds this thing is capable to pronounce, I still can’t understand why it is not possible to set exact freq ratios? I mean rotating the encoder 1 click does a step of 0.8-0.9 instead of 0.1 like all the other values. Same for freq in Hz. I know there is a fine tune knob next to it, but it is not the same. What am I missing here, is it something about 12 tones per 1.0? ( I get used to reface dx, where I can choose exact ratios). Sorry if a noob question, but I’m searching for an answer since yesterday with no luck:(

Hi,
Yes that's on purpose.
As you noticed there's 12 values per unit.
It allows you have interesting ratio such as 3/4, 2/3, 1/2, 1/3, 1/6 etc....

Hi Xavier, wow, thanks for the quick response and also much respect for what you”ve created and what you are doing! Yes, this is handy for sure, I just wanted to try golden ratio, pi and stuff like that - probably should stop doing math and use my ears instead haha. Or is there a chance to turn 0.1 increments on somewhere in settings some day may be ::)?
