Request: Scala tuning full name on display
« on: November 01, 2022, 05:50:07 AM »
First off, grateful it is Scala compatible!! I think this is the only synth other than Black Corp and maybe Waldorf iridium that makes it easy?

One request: When selecting a scale the .scl file name is abbreviated and becomes unrecognizable inside the preenFM menu. @Xavier would it be possible to have the scala name scroll through during selection mode? I think there's currently a limit to the file name size, and once passed that threshold some weird stuff starts happening?

Thanks  :)
The problem is that the preenfm reads the FAT file system of the USB stick/SD card with 8.3 name mode.
8 chars for the name.
3 chars for the extension.
That was done to use as less memory as possible.

So unfortunately displaying the full name is not possible.
You'll have to rename the files yourself  ;)

How can we rename the scala file so it shows up in the preenfm3 display correctly? thru the FAT system on windows? I've got about 60 of these bad boys loaded in, and if you can imagine it's easy to get lost in the sauce.

Appreciate your help greatly

Thanks  :)

You must rename the scala files on the SD card.

Use the bootloader to mount the SD card when the preenfm3 is plugged by USB to your computer.
Or take out the SD card and insert it directly in your computer.

Then go in /pfm3/scala, and rename the scala files. 8 chars max.
