And found that the holes for the buttons are too small to fit the buttons through? Maybe .5mm too small all the way around.

Thought I'd finished the build successfully but bummed to find out that I can't use the faceplate without filing the cutouts to fit the buttons. Worried I'll end up with wonky gaps if not extremely careful.

Any advice from anyone who's had to do this already?

Hi,
The buttons you need are the 5J serie (I've just updated the BOM URL which did not work any more on mouser).
https://eu.mouser.com/c/electromechanical/switches/switch-accessories/switch-bezels-switch-caps/?m=E-Switch&series=5J
https://github.com/Ixox/preenfm3/wiki/Build#part-3

I can send you 12 caps if you don't find any solution.
Let me know by PM.
