this sounds super interesting, and a massive thank you for including the Preen2!

edit: just had a go, and it's brilliant, love it!
Just had a super fun patch pop up using it while randomising. Will see if I can build a whole bank to share.

I actually just got something similar going, so this is possibly a bit of a waste of a thread... but then again..

I think the following things helped:

envelope mod the vowel filter, keep the sustain level up

and

use glide!

Will work on some more and then maybe come back and share a bank!

preenfm2 and preenfm3 / Formant type "voice" patches

Hi,

There are a couple of "voice" patches in evidence in this clip from about 45 seconds which are a sound I really love...

http://mjabroux.free.fr/compo/PreenFM/PreenFMInside1.mp3

the clip was shared here as a PreenFM demo and it says the drums are from

I've been playing with modulating the vowel filters on mine, but I don't seem to be able to get anywhere near these sounds.
Am I just doing it wrong? Are these kind of sounds possible? I'm pretty new to FM really, so quite possible I am missing something obvious!

any tips gratefully received!

ah, thank you!
I knew they were Mutable Instruments Arps, but didn't know they were the ones from Shruthi! (I have one of those too, so maybe they should have sounded familiar ;)

might have answered the second bit - are they "right" and "shuffle" maybe?

Tried to search this both here and via Mutable instruments, so sorry if I missed it... anyone know if the standard ARP Patterns are documented anywhere?

pattern 2 is nearly right, so want to almost copy it to a user pattern...

also - anyone know what the "RtDN" and "ShDn" in the directions stand for?

beware ! the drumkit patch will only work with the fw version available in the corresponding thread, the destination list is not the same in the 2.12Beta. otherwise, you will have to fix the seq start destination in the drumkit patch.

ah! I wondered what was going on, thanks.

:)

thanks, I think I get that part now (I hope!)
As I've only had the Preen a little while and not really played with the step sequencer I am a bit unclear on how much change to a sound is possible per step, I probably just need to have a try and load up your drumkit patch to see what's happening in it!

excellent stuff, I will have to give the step sequencer thing a test, if only because I still can't understand quite how it works.

I thought it was something like that, but great to have it spelled out

:)

thanks
