Wow, the new 1.x firmware is a big improvement. DX import is also a lot better - the patches are really much more expressive now. Thanks! :-)

Wow! Really nice sounds! I must learn how to program FM synths better... Still struggling with getting the intuition for tweaking fm.

Yep, works as expected now!  :)

Native Instrument's FM8 reads DX-7 patches too - so I wouldn't worry too much about Yamaha...

I'd be happy if DX-7 patch conversion would be improved. A lot of the patches were rather strange so far. It would be a huge library to use with the Preen and I like to load some patches to learn about FM synthesis. It's not intuitive at all for me to program so far...

Do you remember the result of "dfu-util -l" before installing xcode ?
Yes: command not found - the installation of dfu-util failed before xcode.

Yep - success! Worked for me too. After installing Xcode 3.2.6 and fiddling with the commands it finally worked. Thanks! :-)

Hmmm... Tried the brew method. Obviously you have to have Xcode installed for it to work, though.
Will try that. (I'm on 10.6.8 hop that works)

Hi Xavier,

well, it kinda works but not as expected. Played notes are held when sustain pedal is on -OK. But when the pedal is released all notes are cut off, even notes whose keys are still pressed. The expected behaviour would be, that only notes whose keys aren't held are cut off but the keys still held keep ringing.

preenfm2 and preenfm3 / MIDI Sustain Pedal?
« on: December 30, 2013, 10:51:21 PM »
How can I get the Preen to react to MIDI sustain (hold pedal)? None of the presets I have tried seem to react to hold pedal... (CC #64)

preenfm2 and preenfm3 / Velocity not polyphonic?
« on: December 30, 2013, 10:43:51 PM »
I'm starting to dive into programming FM sounds  :o on the freshly assembled Preen. (Smooth build btw. excellent!  :))

I have noticed that to modulate the IM amount via velocity you'd have to use the matrix. It works OK, but the velocity of the last key pressed also changes the mod amount of the notes already ringing.
Could this parameter be made polyphonic so that each note continues to ring with the velocity amount it was started with?
