Good idea.  Same results unfortunately.  MicroQ works correctly while the PreenFM does not.  Two adjacent messages (Note off, Note on) kill each other.  It might be something to do with the maple's tolerances for high and low values on the receive pin?  I measured the voltage output from the Edirol UM880 at 5.1V and the MOTU828mk2 at 4.98 V   I'm not sure if this means anything at all  :-\

Well, I found a way to filter out 'System Realtime' messages from one channel of the um880...  This did not solve the problem:(   So, I guess this wasn't the issue.  Sorry.  I'm stumped.

:) Thanks.
For 3.  I was hoping for the actual Sysex implementation... a description of how each of the messages were built.  I would like to build a little bank manager in .NET and need the 'import request' and 'dump' messages to do so.  Is it possible to import / dump patches outside of the menus?

As for requests,  I have programmed a number of patches now and have some more ideas :)
4. It would be nice to have glide separate from 'legato', so that the envelopes would retrigger on each new note.
5. Set the Sequencer to 'free running' like the LFOs so that each note would not start on step 1
5a.  The ability to set each Sequencer step to a different note.
6. A' patch volume' setting to match levels.

Thanks.  It's a fun little synth.  I'll share the patches when I have enough decent ones.
Martin.

With the Edirol UM880: It does not receive all note on / note off messages.  It seems I need to hold a note for a decent amount of time to get a 'note off' received.  It also receives only a small amount of NRPN messages when using the VST.  All my other synths work fine with it... Nord Lead 2, Micro Q, Evolver, Tetra, Shruthi.  I cannot, however, send OS updates to the Tetra which I put down to the 'Active Sensing' messages... I could be wrong.

Active Sensing - System Realtime Message: 11111110  http://www.midi.org/techspecs/midimessages.php
A good explanation... in English:  http://www.planetoftunes.com/sequence/activesense.html

If you have any ideas of what to test for I am happy to help.

Martin.

I have checked and it works in Sonar 8.5 x64 as well. :)

Martin.

A Bug:  On Algorithm 9, switching operator 5 shape, changes the frequency to low (.38 I think)

Had another go with Sonar and a new session... And quickly found one issue w/ sonar
... The Plugin MUST have an associated audio track... for some strange reason.  Otherwise, it will not receive or send midi.
So, you'll be happy to know it does now work! :) ... Though, I still need to figure our why I don't get mouse wheel response.

For future reference:
a.  Make sure 'Do not intercept NRPNs' is checked in the VST Plug-In Properties

1.  Insert VST with associated Audio and MIDI tracks
2.  Right Click on VST in Synth Rack and 'Enable MIDI Output'
3.  Insert new MIDI track and set the input to the VST and the output to the PreenFM MIDI port.
4.  Set the VST MIDI input track input to the PreenFM MIDI port.
5.  Set the input echo on both MIDI tracks to 'on'

I noticed on my UM880 a quick succession of midi messages would not work.  This might be due to the fact that it sends out 4 Active Sensing messages a minute... continuously.  And, this may be bogging down the PreenFM?  I have not noticed an issue on my MOTU 828mk2.  Maybe, I should compare the voltage output between the 2.

This looks like the correct thread to add some requests / ideas to :)
1. I would like to be able to assign Matrix destinations to the envelope attacks.  It works well when assigned to velocity for 'pluck' type sounds.
2. It would be cool if the encoders could be used in realtime to tweak assigned parameters.  ie.  Maybe, in the patch load screen where the 2nd 3rd and 4th encoders are unused,  it would be great if they were assigned to CC2, CC3 and CC4.

3. I could not find the sysex messages for requesting and dumping patches.  Could you share them?

thanks! :)  Martin.

Weird.  The mouse wheel does not work on Sonar 8.5 and X1 or VSTHost for me.  I'm using the x64 version.
A standalone version would be great!  I'd much prefer that over a vst.  Though, I'll keep trying to get cakewalk to work.

thanks, Martin.

You'll be happy to know that this so far works perfectly in Hermann Seib's VSTHost.  And, I had some fun messing around with it.
As for Sonar X1, I have given up for the day.  I can enable MIDI output, but I can't record or send the NRPN to the PreenFM.  This is on the same track as the notes.  I also can't record any incoming PreenFM NRPN.  There must be some filtering settings somewhere I can't find.  I'll try again when the frustration dies down.

A couple of requests for the VST... Could you add Mouse Wheel support?  And is it possible to add direct input of values via the keyboard?
Also a couple of small issues I noticed: the voices do not follow the algorithms when they are switched, and, the matrix combobox options are displayed below the lower comboboxes and the version #.

thanks, Martin.

Sonar has a very unintuitive way of implementing MIDI vsts.  From what I have read, in order to get midi input and output... you first need to designate the vst as an instrument and then enable midi output on the instrument.  I think this is the first time I have bothered to try to get this working.  Hopefully, you have better luck. :)

I tried using it in Sonar X1 Extended x64 and I could not get it to work.  It does however load, open, close and look fine.
To set up vstis that output MIDI in Sonar, you are supposed to 'Enable MIDI Output'.  I could not get this to work however many times I clicked it.  (I enabled output on Kontakt.)  Though, I have never used a vst hardware programmer before, so I could be missing something.
It does look good though, and  I hope to use it to full effect. :)

I've learnt that well :(

It's now a race to see who gets it in stock first... them or me :D
