PreenFM2 / Re: How to create txt user waveform
« Last post by rheslip on January 11, 2020, 01:49:12 AM »
I found a great tool for making band limited waveforms: https://www.futur3soundz.com/wavetable-synthesis

Near the bottom of that page you will find a link to WCreate and instructions for using it. It creates .wav files with a specified number of samples (use 1024 for Preen) and sinewave partials in the magnitude, frequency and phase you want. I used the method mentioned at the top of this thread with Audacity to convert the .wav files .txt files for Preen.

I'm finding the additive synthesis possibilities with Preen algorithm 27 quite interesting. For example you can use WCreate to make a waveform with some harmonics and another one with some of the same harmonics 180 degrees out of phase. By adding the two in the right proportions you can remove harmonics from the first waveform. This can be controlled by the operator envelopes to change over time. This allows more precise control of harmonic content than the FM algorithms.

WCreate also makes awesome sounding organ tones!

Toltekradiation, if those new matrix sources give discreet articulative changes, some more pronounced articulations could demand many matrix slots. For this reason, could you, please , add a channel conversion toward Part two, channel nr. 2, as a matrix destination. With that we could, , after processing with those new matrix sources, rute notes to a completely different patch loaded on a Part 2. Thanks.

Ofcorse it can be done by boosting the signal by adding a boosting stage to PreenFM eurorack format.
But it can also be done with an extra module like Erica Synth Pico Input.

I will try to work out a solution to add an extra gainstage to it. But in current design its not implemented.

thank you Xavier,
i could merge my code with the latest os version.
i also added the speed and duration matrix source.
Let me know if i can enhance something :D

FWIW, I pinged Xavier and he kindly sent new the following in response to this:

Quote
All the voltage conversion is done by the hardware.
The firmware reads input at the MCU level (0 -> 3.3v).
The output comes from the DAC (0 -> 5v converted to -2.5v -> 2.5v)

As eurorack delivers -12v and 12v, i think it should be easy to amplify the audio output with a op amp in amplifier mode.
I have no plan at all to do that.

@matrix12x, it is my last filter version, the latest code version from Xavier is not released yet in github.

Oops... sorry i forgot to push.
It's done now :)
